Working with our esteemed client MJ Hudson, within an extraordinary property owned by The Mercers’ Estate and collaborating with the fantastic architectural team at KKS Savills, Anvil was tasked to create a stunning modern commercial office interior in a historic Grade II listed building.
Harnessing inspiration from the original architect, the famous Robert Adam, a modern interpretation of 18th Century neo-classicism was developed, whilst maintaining an overriding respect for the Guildhall Conservation Area in which the building resides.
Fireplaces with late 18th-century foliated mouldings, period cornices and sash windows were retained and respectfully restored. Modern materials, lighting and all of the services required to run a modern office, were either integrated seamlessly into the building or used to provide a contemporary contrast with the traditional structure. This provided impact and appeal to each space, collectively and cohesively bringing them together.
For the Anvil team, it was a joyous experience to work on such a highly esteemed project and to see our clients’ expectations surpassed. We are very proud of the final build, where meticulous attention was given to every detail, in every corner, on each of the nine floors that were worked on.
