Sustainability, recycling, and the circular economy were the main drivers throughout this project. Considerable research was undertaken by the design team at Anvil to ensure that all of the materials, furniture pieces and work surfaces deployed were either reused, upcycled, or sustainably made and sourced, to ensure Nyland Verve’s principles were reflected in their London Head office.
Anvil sourced Acoustic Pulp panels, made by BAUX, created from sustainably harvested Swedish fir and pine trees, recycled water, Non-GMO wheat bran and zero chemicals in the manufacturing process. The most sustainable office chair in the world was also chosen, the Smart Ocean chair made by Humanscale, which incorporates almost 2 pounds of recycled fishing net and instantly adjusts to each unique sitter — as if the chairs were custom made for them. Amongst many other sustainable and recyclable initiatives used in the project, Forbo’s Furniture Linoleum was fitted throughout: a completely natural surfacing material, which is antibacterial in nature and easy to clean and maintain.
Nyland Verve wanted to remind their team that the work they do has a direct impact on everyone around them and to demonstrate to visitors how the principles of circular economy can be realised in an office fitout. Working in a beautiful space that has been sourced both ethically, sustainably and with minimal carbon emissions, the building becomes a living, breathing example of how environmentally friendly design can be woven into the workplace.
